Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) denounces in the strongest terms the brutal state response to peaceful rallies in Rawalakot, within Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which left at least 19 individuals dead and numerous others injured. Utilizing deadly force against defenseless citizens who are simply exercising their basic rights to gather peacefully and voice their views is indefensible and represents a grave breach of international human rights standards.
Sohail Abro, Chairman of JSFM, said in his statement that Pakistan’s military apparatus and state intelligence bodies systematically silence peaceful political opposition. This pattern of behavior relies heavily on extreme force, threats, unlawful detentions, forced disappearances, and widespread intimidation. The recent tragedy in Rawalakot underscores the critical need for an investigation into the Pakistani occupation.
JSFM highlights that populations across Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh, Balochistan, Saraikistan, and Pashtunkhwa have long suffered under subjugation, systematic rights abuses, heavy political censorship, targeted disappearances, and extrajudicial executions. JSFM extends heartfelt sympathies to the Kashmiri families affected by this violence and reaffirms its complete solidarity with all who face political persecution and state-sponsored oppression.
JSFM appeals to the United Nations, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the European Union, democratic states and international watchdog organizations to launch an immediate, independent probe into the atrocities in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and neighboring regions. Concrete international action is required immediately to enforce human rights standards, prevent future bloodshed, and defend democratic principles.
The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement rejects the ban on the Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (JKAAC) and demands an international inquiry into the unlawful torture of Kashmiris by Pakistani forces, as well as the immediate acceptance of the protesters’ demands.
