Press Statement: Baloch People’s Congress
“The Baloch nation firmly understands that justice will not be served by Islamabad. The protests and marches led by our brave daughters Dr. Mahrang, Banuk Sammi, Mahzeb and Banuk Saira have exposed the occupier state’s brutal and oppressive tactics.
It is important to note that both national and international media, along with human rights organizations, face severe restrictions in shedding light on the atrocities committed by the Pakistani army in Balochistan. However, the recent march to Islamabad has successfully revealed the harsh reality of the state’s policies and their relentless efforts to silence Baloch voices seeking justice.
The violent treatment of Baloch activists and families of victims of enforced disappearances by Islamabad police is mereley the shawdow of the giant that mirrors the broader, ruthless tactics of the Pakistani army. Since the annexation of Balochistan in 1948, these forces have perpetrated a genocide against the Baloch people.
This march is not an isolated event; it follows in the footsteps of previous peaceful protests, including the notable long march led by Mama Qadeer Baloch, who, alongside the young son of Jalil Reki, Sammi Deen Baloch(daughter of abducted Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch) and the sister of Baloch student Zakir Majeed, walked thousands of miles to raise awareness of Pakistan’s state-sponsored atrocities.
The Baloch nation’s sole demand is freedom. True justice, peace, and prosperity can only be achieved through Baloch sovereignty.
We appeal to the international community and urge the United Nations to establish a special rapporteur for Balochistan. The Baloch people will show the locations of mass graves, torture camps, and bombarded villages, and to identify the thousands of Balochs who have been killed or abducted. We invite the United Nations, international media, and human rights organizations to commision a special mission to Balochistan to halt the ongoing genocide.
We assert that any negotiations with the occupying state that do not center on Balochistan’s freedom will not lead to justice or the fulfillment of the Baloch nation’s rights.”
