Karachi(press release)
Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement Chairman Sohail Abro, Zubair Sindhi, Amar Azadi strongly condemns the recent decision by the pakistani
government to ban the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), a peaceful and non-
violent organization that has consistently advocated for human rights, justice, and
peace in the Pashtun regions. This action is not only a grave violation of
fundamental human rights but also contradicts the principles enshrined in the
state’s constitution.

The PTM has been steadfast in its peaceful struggle for the rights of the Pashtun
people, including the demand for accountability in cases of enforced
disappearances and the restoration of civic rights for the Pashtun community. Their
calls for justice and peace have always been non-violent, and their advocacy is
rooted in the principles of human dignity and equality. By banning such an organization, the state risks further alienating an already
marginalized community. This decision may foster a sense of hopelessness and
frustration in Pashtun society, potentially pushing some toward violent militant
groups, which PTM has consistently opposed.

We urge the government to reconsider its stance, lift the ban on PTM, and engage
in dialogue with peaceful organizations that are working for the betterment of
society. Suppression of peaceful voices will only lead to further unrest, and it is
imperative that the state upholds its commitment to human rights and constitutional

JSFM states that the ban on PTM will not bring peace; instead, it threatens to
deepen the crisis in the Pashtun belt. We call on civil society, human rights
organizations, and the international community to take notice of this injustice and
stand in solidarity with the PTM in their peaceful struggle for justice and human
rights.
