London: The second death anniversary of Shaheed Hidayatullah Lohar, Patron of Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, was observed today in London, United Kingdom with great respect and devotion.
On this occasion, participants paid tribute by lighting candles and laying flowers in front of the martyr’s photograph. A large number of political, social, and human rights activists attended the ceremony.
Among those who paid homage were Chairman of Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement Sohail Abro, Mansoor Ahmed Hub (Spokesperson JSFM), Coordinator of Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh – Europe Chapter Sarang Sindhi, Deputy Coordinator Saeed Sindhi, Muhammad Osama Soomro (Coordinator JSFM UK Chapter) and Tahir Khan (Coordinator JSFM London)
The ceremony began with the Sindhudesh national anthem, followed by a one-minute silence observed in memory of Shaheed Hidayatullah Lohar.
Speakers stated in their addresses that Hidayatullah Lohar was shot dead on 16 February 2024 in Nasirabad, Sindh (Pakistan), in a public market allegedly by state operatives. They noted that although the perpetrators were identified, no arrests have been made in the case so far.
The speakers further said that Shaheed Lohar had previously been forcibly disappeared in 2017 and was released after two years. Even after his release, he continued to receive threats, which ultimately culminated in his killing. Participants told that Sindh is facing big trouble of Human rights violations. Dozens of people are still enforced disappearanced and many cases of extra judicial killing are reported.
The participants appealed to international human rights organizations, particularly Amnesty International and the United Nations, as well as other relevant bodies, to support the call for justice, ensure a transparent investigation, and help bring those responsible to accountability.
